Being a tattooist sounds like it's easy to become one and it is for some who have the talent to draw or a flair for the creative, but it does take a lot of time to perfect the techniques to consider yourself as a good tattooist and together with the skill and talent comes the learning or the studying period which you must go through to pick up key areas for being a tattoo artist, you quite often will have heard of this as an apprenticeship, which is often with an established tattoo shop and artist who will show you everything to do with tattoos.
But first you should really have some form of drawing skill or talent and that should be developed first through some classes or some good old fashioned practising drawing variations of tattoo styles, by looking around through other tattoo shops library collections of their own stock, you can get some excellent ideas and in fact I do this frequently, even though I gave up on being a tattooist years ago I do sell some tattoos as a designer
